What you should know when selling a house
Sell your property with confidence
Making a big decision is never easy, especially when you’re aware it will affect your entire life. How should you know if it’s the right time for you to sell your property, the place where you most likely spent many years and is filled with memories? This is always a serious step and it’s best to have someone you can trust guiding you throughout the process. Our team of professionals is eager to support you during your journey - from the beginning to closing the deal. Here’s a short guide we’ve prepared to help you decide if you’re ready for the big step.
Here are a few things to keep in mind so you can sell your home as painlessly as possible:
- Hire a real estate agent. The difference between making a small profit or a better one lies in your decision to seek professional help. An agent with extensive experience can help you navigate the tricky waters of selling your home.
- Determine the value of your home. The last thing you want to do is overvalue or undervalue your property. Go through your home and assess what you see with a buyer’s perspective. The exercise can open your eyes to how much your property may be really worth.
- Stage your house. Staging means preparing your home so that buyers can imagine themselves living in your space. You don’t need to make major changes or renovations – simply eliminate personal effects like framed photos, souvenirs, and one-of-a-kind items that draw attention to themselves. The idea is to make the house look neutral enough so that it appeals to the greatest number of buyers.
- Be patient. You thought long and hard about the value of your home, and sought the advice of real estate experts. So when a bid comes your way that doesn’t measure up to the number you had in mind, be prepared to decline… graciously. There is no reason for you to jump on the first offer that comes your way, especially if buyers are clearly lowballing you. If you did your homework up to this point, trust that the right buyer with the right price will come along.
- Go through your documents carefully. Make sure nothing is amiss. And if there is, then correct it. It cannot be helped that some details on the contract might need correcting – do so before actually signing on the dotted line.
